Imagery Poem: Silence

Silence is a gloomy darkness,
stretching,
and growing.
A lingering presence,
found only sometimes,
during the day.
Lurking in the corners,
but away from the crowds.
Foreboding and towering,
frightening and discomforting,
when night arrives.

Silence is a dead tree,
lonely, empty, bare.
Chilly against the wind,
it twists and turns.
Casting sinister shadows,
against the bare snow.
Its gnarled branches reach out,
Clawing and grasping,
at the light that reaches it no more.

Silence is a peaceful thought,
fresh,
and comfortable.
Moments of confusion,
moments of panic,
washed away,
by the lulling calmness.
The lapping of waves,
whisper of wind,
echoes soothingly.

Yesterday I Saw A Poem

Yesterday I saw a poem,
Fluttering in the breeze.
It uncovered its great wings,
And soared high up into the clouds.

It swayed with the whispering wind,
Teetering and tottering.
It circled the tallest mountain peaks,
And dove into the churning seas.

Then it folded its great wings,
And slithered into the shadows,
Hiding under rocks and shrunken between the trees.

It lies dormant, yet alert,
Waiting to be discovered.

Spoken Word Poem: Reality

Reality is the ripe, polished apple,

the shined surface gleaning and smooth.

The first crunch into the raw fruit fills the mouth
with its tart sweetness.

The flavor twirls and spins on the tip of the tongue,
until the eyes see what the taste buds didn't taste.

The still wriggling, squirming half of the worm.
